Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
When inhaled through the mouth and nose, nitrous oxide calms patients, though they remain awake and able to communicate. This option also tends to lessen anxiety, reduce gag reflex, make time pass more quickly and increase pain threshold.
Oral Sedation
Your dentist can prescribe oral sedatives in pill or liquid form to be taken orally prior to your dental appointment. Though this option leaves you awake for the procedure, it produces a calming effect to significantly relax you.
