Veneers & Lumineers
At Ottawa Downtown Dental in Ottawa, our dentist may recommend porcelain veneers or Lumineers® as a treatment option to correct discoloured, chipped, misaligned or gapped teeth.
What is a Dental Veneer?
Veneers are razor-thin pieces of tooth-shaped porcelain that are custom-made by a dental laboratory to match the shape and colour of your teeth. They are extremely durable.
At Ottawa Downtown Dental, veneers are used to create a more uniform smile for our patients. Your dentist bonds the restoration to the front of your natural tooth to help alter the colour, symmetry or shape of your smile.
At Ottawa Downtown Dental, we offer Lumineers to our patients. These thin veneers can often be placed with little to no removal of the natural tooth structure.
How Veneers Work
An impression will be taken of your teeth and used to create your custom veneers.
Once your dental veneers have been manufactured, your dentist will bond them to the fronts of your natural teeth.
Made from an extremely thin piece of porcelain, veneers are custom-shaped to match your tooth. The porcelain mimics the natural translucency of tooth enamel and has a very natural look and feel.
How Veneers Can Help
Looking to alter the shape or symmetry of your entire smile? You may want to consider dental veneers as a less intrusive alternative to dental crowns.
Dental veneers can correct crooked, worn or discoloured teeth. They can also close gaps and change the size of your teeth.
If cared for properly, dental veneers can last for many years.
